How do we know when it is time to get help for our family member? This is a very difficult and personal decision. Most importantly, if you are concerned for your mother's safety (is she unstable on her feet, forgetting to take medicines, leaving spoiled food in the refrigerator, wearing soiled clothes or using unclean linens, or worse, falling?), it is time to seek assistance. Is she is fearful or more forgetful? Has she recently lost a lifetime partner? And when she is no longer able to drive after spending a lifetime driving, she will suddenly have a much smaller, lonelier world. Bringing in caregiver support even a couple of days a week will help with these issues and ease the transition from independence to professional support to continue her independent lifestyle.
-
Why would I choose an agency over someone I know from church?Certainly, a family member or personal friend can ease the transition from independence to assistance for activities of daily living. Family and friends are in our lives to love us and laugh with us and create fun memories alongside us, not to routinely do very personal activities of daily living. Utilizing an agency, whether it is Beverly Home Care or another professional agency, gives your family the confidence that your family member is safe, well cared for, and monitored by a Director of Nursing with years of experience caring for others. Caregivers are background checked and drug free as evidenced by yearly, random screening, and overseen by an RN (in our case, a Nurse Practitioner with more than 40 years of experience). If your caregiver is unable to come to work one day, you have the peace of mind that there is someone else with equal expertise supporting your family member.
-
Does Medicare pay for these services? No, Medicare does not pay for Home Care. Medicare pays for Home Healthcare. The difference is that Home Healthcare is a short-term, skilled nursing and therapy, in home support that is offered to elders needing temporary support as they are rehabilitating and home bound. Home Care is generally activity of daily living focused and is self pay or long term care insurance paid. Please contact us to further discuss!

How do you select your caregivers?Beverly Home Care uses a number of different recruiting sites, but our primary source for our caregivers come from our own staff. We select caregivers who have at least five years of experience working in the home, an updated CNA license, current CPR and First Aid certifications, clean background checks, and a passion for helping others. We have a team approach to hiring and training, and our caregivers have a peer mentor who supports their growth and development.

How do I get started with Visiting Nurse Private Home Care? The first step is contacting us. From there we will do a phone interview, conduct an initial assessment of your loved one's physical, social, mental and environmental needs to create a care plan that is designed specifically for you.
-
Who pays for this?Straight out of pocket. Medicare, Medicare Advantage and other insurances usually do not cover private home care services. The only insurance that does is long term care insurance and even with that an elimination period usually must be met. Elimination Periods vary and can be as many as 100 days of out of pocket costs before insurance kicks in. Check with your carrier and ask the following: 1. What is the elimination period? 2. What is my daily, weekly, monthly and lifetime benefit? These questions will inform your family's financial decisions. We will provide all of the paperwork necessary so that when you have met the obligation, the benefit will begin without delay.

Who qualifies for Remote Health Management? If you have a chronic illness like high blood pressure, Congestive heart failure, COPD, diabetes, or long Covid, you will most likely qualify. Our medical team will have a short meeting with you and if appropriate, will prescribe devices for you. They will come to you inside of week and are ready to use right out of the box. All of the tools are cellular so you do NOT need to have wifi or worry about "pairing" devices. This DOES NOT take the place of your personal physician. This simply helps you and your physician by reminding you to take readings and medications, alert you when things are amiss, and provide you with a record of your statistics so that your physician can make even more informed decisions about your health.
